Homemade Modeling Clay

Homemade Finger Paint craft from Tiny Einsteins children's educational software and children's educational toys.
Homemade modeling clay made from everyday kitchen ingredients. Make your own homemade modeling clay & impress your friends.  Produces a clay that can be used over and over again and will remain pliant for weeks.  Great project for a rainy day!

Ingredients:
   • 1/2 cup of salt
   • 1 cup of water
   • 1 cup of flour
   • 1/2 teaspoon of cream of tartar
   • 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil
   • Food Coloring or Tempera Paint (Optional)

Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients and bring to a boil.   You can leave food coloring out and add later if you prefer or add in the beginning if you want the whole batch to be the same color.

2. Pour mixture onto waxed paper and allow to cool.

3. Divide the clay mixture & color sections with food coloring if color has not already been added.

4.  When the clay is cool enough to touch, your child can knead it on a floured board.

5. Create your designs & allow clay to dry into shape desired.  DRYING TIME: 3 to 5 days.

Note: Leftover modeling clay may be stored in air tight container and refrigerated or unrefrigerated.  Lasts 2-4 weeks.
